Definition

(Expression) An informal way of addressing a male stranger. This expression was popular with the Baby Boomer generation of the 1940s, 50s and 60s, and can be heard in many classic films and shows. Fred Flintstone and Bugs Bunny are two cartoon characters who regularly use the expression.
It's also common to use the term "Mac" alone after saying thanks or okay.
